Why Autoblogs Died A Horrible Death This Year

I did what most of my readers have probably done…
I fell for the lure of the autoblogging sirens.

Autoblogging is a great concept.

You create a blog, you set it up with RSS feeders,
so that whenever some of your top sources of good
info in your niche posts something, your blog gets
new targeted content. You place affiliate links in
the sidebar, you use crosslinker to add links to
the keywords in your content (to your affiliate
links, of course)… and you wait for the commissions
to roll in.

And wait…

wait some more…

and finally forget about that blog and go on to
another topic.

What went wrong?

The blog itself is good, but the problem is the
traffic will never come from Google because
your content is already indexed somewhere
else.

Why would someone link to your blog
if you aren’t providing original content?

I have a plan for that…

It isn’t a new plan or anything. It is called
being the curator of your very own blog
museum. You find relevant information
about your niche, and provide that info
on your blog by linking to the sources.

different searches to bring out the
most recent posts on the topic and
I tie it all together with my own info.

Notice how both of these posts are
not attempts to steal content, but
rather to borrow the credibility of the
sources. This has more unique content,
since I am tying the different posts
together with my own thoughts.

    World Blog Day

    business to have a secure blog. How much would it cost you
    if someone corrupted your blog?

    With the number of people selling from their blogs, it is crucial
    that those blogs be operational and useful to the readers, as soon
    as a hacker takes over one of these blogs, the chances of any
    income continuing to flow from that blog are very slim.

    That is why you should have your blog backed up, and locked
    down, so if (more likely when) a hacker targets your blog, they
    will give up when they see how you have hardened it against them.

      How Insecure Are You Really?

      In April of this year WordPress.com accounts and plugins
      were attacked by hackers.

      The result of this attack was many WordPress accounts have
      been compromised.

      Many of you might not even know your accounts have been
      hacked, but the results can be devastating.

      The problem with WordPress is its standard nature.  Every
      account login is http://www.YourSiteName.com/wp-admin

      Very often the ‘Username’ is ‘Admin’ or ‘Author name’.
      This makes sites vulnerable as even novice hackers have
      the ‘know how’ to crack passwords.

      Furthermore all they need to do to get your password is
      hack the ‘WP-Config.php’ file, which is usually stored in the
      Public HTML folder on your server i.e. its ripe for the picking

      The results of these hacks are devastating.  My friend
      and colleague Kevin, had his network of 20 auto blogs
      hacked.

      The Hacker inserted an iFrame in the database that
      disabled all his affiliate links, and rendered all outbound
      links disabled PERMANENTLY.  Even resorting to backups
      would not work.  He went from 3K a month on autopilot
      blog income to ZERO in less than 24 hours.

      However, his bad experience can be to your advantage.

      He set out and devised a very detailed strategy for making
      his blogs ‘bombproof’.  He wanted to prevent this from
      happening to him ever again, and I think he has certainly
      made the hacker’s life very difficult indeed.

        Making Money From Your Musings

        A blog is a great way to write about what is going on in your life. You select a topic you are familiar with, and then you write about it in terms of your day to day existence.

        I drove from Beverly Hills, Florida to Quebec, Canada on Tuesday morning with my mom and dad. Well, we stopped in Statesville, North Carolina on Tuesday night, then drove to Binghamton, New York on Wednesday and finally drove to Quebec, Canada on Thursday. Boy was I glad to stand up at my aunt Micheline’s place when we finally arrived.

        Everyone kept asking me to sit down and make myself at home, but I told everyone that when you make your living writing on the Internet, then you drive for 8 to 10 hours a day for three days, you really do not want to put any weight on your backside.

        When I finally sat at my computer last night, I found that I had made some commissions on Amazon and on Commission Junction. I had also made some sales from some other affiliate programs that paid me directly to my Paypal.

        Because I have spent my last couple years developing income streams online, it has rewarded me with being able to earn money without being at my computer. Heck, without being at home…

        One of the ways I make commissions when I am not home or at my computer is to set up blogs on some topics that I am interested in, like computer games, golf, coffee, and many more. Not the least of which is Blogging. In fact, I do a weekly Blog Talk Radio show called Blogging With Micheal, where I talk about blogging, social media and Internet Marketing. On Tuesday, I did my show from the van, with my parents sitting in there with me (I love a captive audience) as I navigated through the highway system of Florida. My dad couldn’t believe that I could talk for a solid hour each week, and after my show, he said “I take my hat off to you, I would never be able to do that!”

        Obviously, I never would have believed I could do that, either. But after two years of broadcasting steadily an hour a week, it now comes much easier. But that is another topic I love doing, and the fact that I can do it with my cell phone, wherever there is a signal, is a bonus!

        But by setting up blogs, I have traffic coming to my affiliate links pretty consistently. I don’t make hundreds of thousands like some will claim to you, but I do make enough to cover my expenses. Even while I am traveling.

          Commission Junction Products On YOUR Blog

          When you need to make your blog pay off for you, you need to be part of some affiliate networks like Commissions Junction, where you can grab hundreds of products to sell and make commissions.

          Your blog can become a home for these products, and you can make it look just like a regular ecommerce site, without you having to manage the shipping and delivery of the products, all you do is collect the commissions each month!

          Well, it used to be a real pain to set something like this up.

          You’d have to research the products, then get the code for each one, and then publish a post for each one.

          Need Unique Content?

          You WON’T need to continuously write new content nor will
          you need to continuously spend money on writers just to
          keep your content unique..

          The traditional way of spinning content has MANY failures.
          Whether you use the best spinning software on the market or
          not, there will always be footprints to track down all your
          spun articles if ever you are going to use them to build
